There have been hundreds of hunting rifles in every caliber made that have been restocked on the shelves at Palmetto State Armory. If you’re looking for a 9mm pistol, read our blog, ” 6 Restocked 9mm Pistols at PSA!” In no way am I saying the 6 hunting rifles are the best on the market. I think these rifles listed below are listed for a great price and will make you a better hunter with a dependable rifle. I believe all 6 of these rifles are great for hunting all medium to large-sized game, such as whitetail deer, blacktail deer, mule deer, elk, bear, sheep, and hogs.
Weatherby Vanguard RC
The Weatherby Vanguard Range Certified (RC) is a special rifle that is guaranteed to give you sub-MOA at 100 yards with respectable ammo. The RC model chambered in 300 Weatherby Magnum is sure to bring down any animal you have eyes on hunting in North America. The internal recoil lug helps reduce the felt recoil to ensure that rifle is in a stable position and doesn’t kick you like a mule in your shoulder.
You won’t find many gun manufacturers that confident enough today to mail the printout from Koehler Ballistic Imaging System with the gun. This data has all the information needed to understand the ballistic data, including specific loads and an image of the actual 3-shot group of the rifle.
The trigger is a match-grade 2-stage trigger that breaks smooth and clean at less than 4 lbs. of pressure. The buttstock is made from a pillar bedded composite Monte Carlo raised cheekpiece. This feature gives the shooter versatility in how you establish your line of sight in your scope. At 26″, the barrel provides more than enough length to attempt shots at over 600 yards with match grade ammo. Overall, this is an amazing rifle that shoots true, doesn’t weigh a ton, and is durable enough for any environment.
Savage Arms 110 Classic
The Savage Arms 110 Classic hunting rifle is chambered in multiple calibers from a .308 Win to a 7mm Rem Mag. My 2 favorite hunting calibers for big game are the .308 and 7mm Rem Mag. I love the power and range of the Rem mag bullets and I believe the .308 Winchester is the most accurate hunting caliber inside 1,000 yards. The Walnut stock features updated ergonomics with a recoil pad designed to reduce up to 33% of felt recoil.
The reason this rifle is on the list is 100% due to the versatility and customization available. For example, you can adjust everything from the LOP, Comb and Heel, and AccuTrigger. Savage Arms ensures that no matter how unorthodox your body type or shooting style might be, this rifle will accommodate your every need. To ensure the rifle is as accurate and durable as possible they created the barrel from 1 piece of solid carbon steel through cold hammer-forging.

Steyr Arms Pro Tactical Heavy Barrel (THB)
The Steyr Pro THB (Tactical Heavy Barrel) is an entry-level precision rifle and not generally used as a hunting rifle. However, the heavier barrel makes up for some of the distance and accuracy you’d get with a 24″ barrel. The THB is cold hammer-forged and is attached to the renowned safe bolt System (SBS) action for added safety and precision. Steyr also finished all materials from the receivers, grip, stock, and barrel with their Mannox finish. This finish ensures that the entire gun is 100% weatherproof and incredibly rigid and durable.
The synthetic stock features a Manner’s Mini Chassis System that offers supreme repeatability and a solid aluminum trigger guard for durability. A full 20 MOA Picatinny Rail has been added to the top of the rifle for installation of almost any optic or scope you want to install. The comb, heel, and LOP, are all adjustable for an elite level of customization that not every rifle has. This is a great rifle to start shooting with and would be a phenomenal rifle for the dense woodlands on the midwest or east coast. A 20″ barrel is not ideal for hunting long-range, so I’d keep this rifle at less than 400 yards for an animal.

Browning X-Bolt Stainless Stalker
Browning has been more known for its ammo than guns by most civilians, but the X-Bolt rifle is starting to change that trend. The Browning X-Bolt Stainless Stalker features advanced technology in its trigger, recoil control system, and mounting capabilities. The 1st thing you’ll notice is the new Inflex Technology recoil pad, which collapses as the rifle is fired and directional ribs pull the comb down and away from your face. This new recoil pad ensures that the heavy recoil of a 7mm Rem Mag doesn’t feel like a horse kick to the face.
The 3-lever Feather Trigger provides a clean, crisp pull with no take-up or creep and minimal overtravel. The trigger pull weight is adjustable from 3-5 lbs of force. Normally a 7mm Rem Mag rifle has a stiffer trigger pull due to the power of the bullet pressure, but Browning made it incredibly smooth. With a factory setting of 3.5 lbs, I don’t really see any need to adjust the trigger, but everyone is different and you have to do what’s best for you.
The Browning X-Bolt Stalker features a stainless steel barrel that has been cold hammer-forged and is durable enough to withstand any type of environmental condition. The stainless steel is also finished with a non-reflective coating designed to ensure your hidden from your target, even during the brightest of days. The stock is also weather-resistant and provides enough stability to feel comfortable and rugged at the same time.

Bergara Premier Ridgeback
The Bergara Ridgeback 300 Winchester Magnum is a hunter’s dream rifle. I prefer the 7mm Rem Mag or the .308 Winchester, but Bergara doesn’t make any .308’s with a 24″ or 26″ barrel. This 300 Winchester Magnum is perfect for any animal in North America and will not completely blast smaller der, such as whitetail (with the right ammo).
The Ridgeback features a TriggerTech trigger with Frictionless Release Technology. This trigger is the best factory trigger of any rifle I’ve ever fired and breaks smoother than any other trigger I’ve felt. Bergara is such an incredible rifle that you’re guaranteed to shot sub-MOA at 100 yards. They won’t guarantee this, but I would bet that this Premier Ridgeback will give you a 1 MOA shot grouping at 300 yards with no wind or elevation change.
As with every Bergara rifle in its arsenal, the bolt can be pulled back and forth with a pinky finger because it’s so precise and smooth. As you fire the action is designed as a two-lug system that features a separate floating bolt head to ensure contact with the lug abutments in the action. To give this rifle its accuracy, it really comes down to the barrel. This barrel is made from 416 solid steel and CNC-machined to unprecedented accuracy.

Ruger Precision M-Lok Rifle
The Ruger Precision Rifle is an outstanding rifle with loads of customization opportunities and versatility. The Ruger Precision Rifle® Hybrid Muzzle Brake reduces the felt-recoil by forcing the explosion to the sides of the shooter. To add more recoil control, the recoil path is directed directly from the receiver to the buttstock to limit the kick felt in your shoulder.
Similar to the Steyr Arms Pro, the Ruger Precision features a 20″ barrel instead of the preferred 24″ barrel. However, with the adjustable stock, comb, and heel, this rifle provides more versatility than most rifles. The Chrome-moly steel has been cold hammer-forged and used the 5R rifling that has made the Remington 700 so popular.
