7 Great Concealed Carry Pistols

7 Recommended Concealed Carry Pistols

With dozens of choices for concealed carry purposes, there is no way to test them all to make a decision on what fits you best. We are going to continue to provide concealed carry pistol blog to give you the most knowledge for your decision making process. This blog will highlight some newer guns on the market that you may not have heard of, and some tried and true pistols that thousands of Americans own and love. We will discuss each of these guns below: Kahr Arms PM9, HK P30SK, HK P2000SK, Beretta Nano, Beretta PX4, Glock 43, and CZ P-10C.

KAHR PM9 9MM

Kahr Arms is a newer gun company relative to the more well known companies of Smith & Wesson, Beretta, and Heckler and Koch. The PM9 is only 5.4″ long and weighs less than 1 pound (.87 lbs) with the famous 3.1″ Walther polygonal rifled match grade barrel. The PM9 also comes with Tritium night sights for use in either night (glows green) or day (white dot). This is the smallest concealed carry pistol that I know with its combination of size and weight.  This gun is perfect to conceal in purses, waistbands, shoulder holsters, and it will even fit in most pockets for men.

Specs:

Length (Overall)**  5.4 inch
Width (Overall)  1.37 inch
Slide Width 0.9 inch
Height incl.Mag. 4.0 inch
Weight 0.87 lbs
MSRP $762.00
Magazine Capacity 6
Caliber 9x19mm
Barrel Length 3.1″
Trigger Pull Weight 7 Lbs
Action Double-Action Only

Pros:

  • PM9 is the easiest pistol to conceal at 5.4″
  • Fits perfect as an ankle holster
  • Great back-up pistol for law enforcement
  • Perfect for women and anyone with smaller hands
  • Lightest gun I’ve held!

Cons:

  • I don’t like how you can’t fire this gun in single action
  • I don’t like the built-in safety (I always prefer manual safety)
  • It’s very expensive for a concealed carry pistol

Features:

  • Stainless Steel slide
  • Walther barrel
  • Rigid grip for optimal control
  • Double-Action trigger

Where Can I Buy a Kahr PM9?

Kahr Arms guns can be found all over, but I would stick with Dicks Sporting Goods, Palmetto State Armory, GunBroker, and Armslist. Kahr pistols are exceptionally well made and are not overpriced, but they are expensive. For this reason, we suggest to buy used at a place like Armslist or buy from Palmetto State for new, especially if you’re a Veteran or law enforcement officer.

HK P30SK V1 LITE LEM 9MM SUBCOMPACT PISTOL

I wanted to put this up here for my police officers because this is a viable option to replace the Glock 22 and Glock 19.  The interchangeable backstraps give each shooter the ability to customize for their own hand size, rather than adjust to the gun. The P30sk is built with ambidextrous operating controls and offers the amazing SuperLuminova 3-dot sights for optimal target acquisition. The best part of the P30sk is the Law Enforcement Modification (LEM) trigger that is designed to break at 4.5-5 lbs for every shot. This lighter trigger pull gives more control and better accuracy because you won’t pull shots from anticipation. The P30sk also comes with a loaded chamber indicator that sticks up high enough to notice if your gun is loaded or not.

Specs:

Length (Overall)**  6.42 inch
Width (Overall)  1.37 inch
Slide Width 1.0 inch
Safety Loaded Chamber indicator, firing pin safety, and an auto hammer safety mechanism

Glock 43 9MM Pistol

The Glock 43 (G43) is a single-stack 9mm pistol designed as a secondary pistol for law enforcement or as a primary concealed carry pistol. The G43 is only 6″ long and weighs less than 2 lbs when fully loaded, which is why more people are moving toward this compact pistol. Glock is known for their dozens of attachments that make it easy to customize your pistol, and the G43 is no different. The beavertail grip allows shooters with larger hands to get a higher and tighter grip without contorting their hand to the gun. It comes with an extended magazine catch for larger hands to easily grip and change their mag without slipping off it like Shaq holding a tennis ball.

Specs:

Length (Overall)**  6.2″
Width (Overall)  1.06″
Slide Width 1.0″
Height 4.2″
Weight 1.37lbs (loaded)
MSRP $469.00
Magazine Capacity 6
Caliber 9x19mm Luger
Barrel Length 3.41″
Trigger Pull Weight 6 lbs

Pros:

  • Easily concealable in ankle holster, waistband, purse, backpack, shoulder holster, and thigh holster
  • Great price for the quality you get in return
  • Single-stack pistol cuts down on the weight and width of the pistol grip
  • It’s perfectly designed as a secondary pistol for police

Cons:

  • Trigger pull can be heavy for newer shooters
  • 6 rounds is very low, but as a secondary pistol, this shouldn’t be a problem

Features:

  •  9mm Luger
  •  Beaver-Tail Grip
  •  Single-Stack
  • Safe-Action System synonymous with Glock
  • Easily allows customization with different triggers, grips, and sights

CZ P-10 Compact .40 S&W Pistol

CZ is always going to produce great guns and the P-10 Compact (C) is no different with it’s cold-hammer forged barrel and amazing trigger. As a striker fired pistol, the P-10 C sets itself apart with the clean, crisp trigger pull that rebounds instantly, shot after shot. Of all triggers, the P-10 has the most intuitive feel because it has almost no creep and the weight is always the same at 4.5 lbs. The power that comes with the .40 S&W is more than enough to stop any assailant with one shot, regardless of the mindstate of the target.

Beretta PX4 Compact 40 S&W Pistol

I learned to shoot using the Beretta 92F 9mm pistol in the military, so I’m very familiar with Beretta as a company. I have a lot of gripes about their guns, but the PX4 .40 caliber is so different and so much better than the one I grew up on. The PX4 is fully ambidextrous with an enlarged trigger well to fit gloves or those with monster hands, without any other modification. Personally, I love the fact that Beretta always has a manual safety lever to ensure no accidents can happen during travel or if the gun drops to the ground. The cold hammer forged rotary barrel reduces the felt recoil for easier follow-up shots when you need them the most. The fact that this is chambered in a .40 S&W makes this gun the perfect primary carry for law enforcement or for concealed carry capacities.

Specs:

Length (Overall)**  6.8″
Width (Overall)  1.42 inch
Slide Width 1.0 inch
Height incl.Mag. 5″
Weight 1.7 lbs
MSRP $650.00
Magazine Capacity 12/14
Caliber .40 S&W
Barrel Length 3.2″
Trigger Pull Weight 12 lbs

Pros:

  • Aesthetically beautiful
  • Powerful enough for any purpose
  • Great capacity
  • It will feel very comfortable for my fellow Veterans

Cons:

  • Too Expensive
  • Trigger pull weight is extensive compared with any other brand. This has been my biggest issue with Beretta over the years.
  • Much better pistols for cheaper with better ergonomics

Features:

  • Interchangeable backstraps
  • Ambidextrous safety
  • Ambidextrous slide lock
  • Drop free magazine allows for rapid and easy one-handed mag changes
  • Retractable lanyard for comfort and practicality

HK PISTOL P2000SK

The P2000sk is the sub compact version of the P2000 with a few modifications to the trigger and grip for more customization for police officers. The LEM is used in this model as well as the P30SK to give officers a lighter and shorter trigger pull, for optimal accuracy. The P2000SK is fully ambidextrous for us lefties to use and has the capability to add optics, sights, lasers, and lights. HK really focused on providing a powerful concealed carry pistol that provides an intuitive trigger preventing failure to fire from ammo. All you have to do if your ammo doesn’t feed is keep pulling the trigger and the round will feed itself. This is an incredible feature that makes HK stand out in the market, but it also comes with a very hefty price tag.

Length (Overall)**  6.4″
Width (Overall)  1.27″

Beretta Nano

The Beretta Nano is the perfect concealed carry pistol for people with smaller hands, such as most women, children, or guys like me with smaller hands. This gun will literally fit in your pocket, if you don’t have a holster for it, and conceals perfectly within your waistband or on your hip. I recommend putting aftermarket night sights on the pistol, but try to avoid optics or attachments on this gun. It will defeat the purpose of being low profile if you add lights, lasers, or optics because it becomes bulky and noticeable. The ergonomics for this pistol are great for someone like me, but if you have bigger hands, I suggest you go change the backstraps.

Specs:

Length (Overall)**  5.6″
Width (Overall)  0.9 inch
Height incl.Mag. 4.1″
Weight 1.2 lbs
MSRP $450.00
Magazine Capacity 6
Caliber 9mm
Barrel Length 3″
Trigger Pull Weight 7-8 lbs

Pros:

  • Easily concealable
  • Affordable for a Beretta
  • It will feel very comfortable for my fellow Veterans

Cons:

  • Too Expensive

Features:

  • Interchangeable backstraps
  • Ambidextrous safety
  • Ambidextrous magazine release
  • Low-profile is meant to be snag-free
