As often as we get asked about optics and scopes, we decided to get to work with more research and reviews. However, we’re going to do this review a little differently today than we have in the past.
As every shooter can attest to, my number 1 red dot sight, gun, grip, etc. might not be your number 1 and vise versa.
With that in mind, I wanted to create a top 6 list that is not in any order, but includes the best-selling and reviewed optics.
We are including the Burris FastFire III, Trijicon RMR 3.2 MOA, Trijicon SRO, Leupold Delta Point Pro, Vortex Optics Venom, ADE Advanced Micro Mini Reflex, and the Holosun 507C multi reticle reddot.
The Burris FastFire 3 Red Dot Sight is available in either a 3 MOA or 8 MOA dot. This specific model is a 3 MOA red dot, which means that you can shoot a 3-inch grouping at 50 yards. One thing to consider is that the higher the MOA for a red dot sight is, the bigger the reticle will appear in your sight picture. However, the lower the MOA is, the smaller the reticle will appear in your sight picture. The lower MOA sights are going to be smaller, but more accurate than some of the sights that are 6 MOA and above. As far as the Burris FastFire goes, this 3 MOA is automatically controlled to adapt to the environment you’re in.
The FastFire 3 changes automatically, but has the ability to change the brightness with 3 manual settings. I know most people will choose the 8 MOA for their handguns, but the 3 MOA ensures you’ll have much better accuracy and if you’re using this red dot sight on a CCW, accuracy is everything. The Burris FastFire is specifically designed to be lightning-fast with target acquisition, due to the parallax-free window and wide-open field of view.
The FastFire 3 is one of the most affordable red dot sights and fits almost any style handgun, including the Glock 34, Glock 35, Glock 40 MOS. You can mount this sight onto any Picatinny/Weaver Rail on the market with minimal effort and time. However, the Burris mounting screws might be too long or short, depending on the pistol you have. In order to ensure you’re getting the correct screw length, contact the company and tell them which pistol you’re mounting the sight with.

Ade Advanced Optics Red Dot Sight
Ade Advanced Optics is a relatively new company that started producing private label products for some of the biggest gun manufacturers in the country. Ade Advanced Optics found a way to produce high-quality products at a fraction of the price of the bigger manufacturers and decided to venture out to producing their own products. 2019 Delta Red dot sight-6 MOA is the most affordable red dot sight on the market that can come close to competing with the giants of Leupold, Vortex, Samsung, and Trijicon. If money wasn’t a consideration, would I buy a Leupold or Trijicon RMR? Absolutely yes. However, I do not want to take anything away from this very well-built red dot sight that will more than suffice for the following pistols:
Glock
Beretta
HK USP
S&W M&P
Sig P226
Springfield
Ruger LC9, SR9, SR22, SR40, SR45
Many more…
The 2019 Delta Red dot sight-6 MOA is housed in an aluminum casing to ensure it’s secure and is shock-proof, fog-proof, and water-proof up to 4ft for 30 minutes without taking on water. The 2019 Delta Red dot sight-6 MOA only comes with a few settings for brightness level, but it’s more than capable of doing everything you need it to do while shooting. It has an automatic setting to ensure the red dot stays at the same brightness every time you turn on/off the sight. For less than $150, this is an awesome sight that will last a few years with moderate use.
The Vortex Optics Venom Red Dot Sight is one of the most popular sights that are often compared with Leupold DeltaPro and the Trijicon RMR. There are 10 brightness settings that can be controlled manually or you can switch it to auto mode to allow the technology to do the heavy lifting. The Venom is a fully Multi-coated lens with an anti-reflective coating on all air-to-glass surfaces. It comes with unlimited eye relief for rapid target identification and acquisition.
It’s built from a single-piece aluminum chassis, designed to be completely shock-proof, fog-proof, and water-proof. The Vortex Optics patented ArmorTek® ensures the lens is scratch-resistant and prevents dirt, oil, or debris from compromising the lens in any way. Overall, the Venom is an incredible piece of technology that many professionals swear by.

Leupold DeltaPoint Pro Red Dot
The Leupold DeltaPoint Pro Red Dot Sight is arguably the most popular red dot sight on the market today for avid gun owners and professionals. It’s a 2.5 MOA red dot sight with a 1x magnification to give you more clarity than any iron sight or reflex sight. The ergonomics of the DeltaPoint Pro are incredible with the battery on top of the housing and the noticeable audible click for each adjustment. Each click represents 1 MOA change for windage, elevation, and brightness so there is no confusion as to how much you’re adjusting the settings.
The DeltaPoint Pro is built to be completely water-proof, shock-proof, and fog-proof to work effectively in any environmental condition you’ll come across. The lens is scratch-resistant and can withstand anything from rocks, trees, gear, and sometimes knife blades from ever compromising the integrity of the lens. If there is one clear observation of the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, it’s incredibly effective on any type of pistol and will work in any environmental condition on earth.

Trijicon RMR Type 2 Red Dot Sight
The Trijicon RMR Type 2 Red Dot Sight is my favorite of all the red dot sights on this list for so many reasons. For starters, it’s so incredibly durable that it’s almost indestructible versus anything you’ll encounter. The original RMR is made specifically for rifles and is incompatible with pistols. Type 2 is specifically made for use on pistols and completely fixes the problem of the red dot sight going in and out or dying altogether. It’s built with type 3 hard-anodized coating and aircraft-grade aluminum to ensure that it will not be beaten into submission through excessive use.
The battery will last on average about 2 years but can get up to 3 years with moderate use and staying between settings 4-8. The Type 2 RMR is a 1.0 MOA red dot sight for optimal precision and reticle size. The 1.0 MOA reticle will allow you to put multiple rounds through the chest of any target at 25-50 yards you come across. It’s smaller than some would like but it will give you the best chance at successive accurate shots at further ranges. At shorter ranges than 25 yards, this red dot sight is deadly accurate with a wide-open, parallax-free window for rapid target acquisition.
Trijicon Specialized Reflex Optic (SRO) Red Dot Sight
The Trijicon Specialized Reflex Optic (SRO™) 1.0 MOA Adjustable LED Red Dot Sight is best used on a rifle or target pistol. However, I believe the SRO is perfect for gun enthusiasts who want a red dot sight that is capable of hitting their target at 50 yards with rapid target identification. The SRO’s LED lens is controlled either by a manual setting or an automatic feature. The SRO can withstand any type of abuse you’ll ever come across in any type of environment from Alaska to the deserts of the Middle East. It’s built from the same 7075 T-6 aircraft-grade aluminum that the RMR uses for maximum protection and rigidness.
The SRO is waterproof up to 10 feet of water so if you drop it in a river and are able to recover your gun quickly, your sight will be fine. The unlimited eye relief and parallax-free field of view allow for instant target acquisition. The SRO has 8 different settings with 2 of those setting being night vision for an around-the-clock application. The battery will last up to 3 years before you need to replace it, as long as it’s used between the settings of 4-8 around 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
There is no other company that offers a battery life that extends up to 3 years in optimal conditions. This is the most expensive red dot sight on this list, but with the incredibly clear picture, battery life, and durability, it’s well worth the money.

Holosun 507C
The Holosun HS507C-X2 is an impressive pistol red dot sight of the new generation. Packed with features like the versatile multiple reticle system, solar failsafe, and shake-awake technology, this reflex sight ensures optimal functionality whenever you need it.
Notably, it offers two efficient battery-saving techniques and an outstanding 50,000-hour battery life on setting 6 with the CR1632 battery. Changing the battery is a breeze thanks to the convenient sliding tray, eliminating the need to remove the optic from your pistol.
With its red reticle, you can effortlessly switch between three configurations: a precise 2 MOA dot, a broad 32 MOA circle, or a combination of the two. My favorite for defensive shooting is the broad 32 MOA circle.
Crafted from durable 7075-T6 aluminum with a sleek anodized black finish, the HS507C-X2 is built to withstand the test of time. Its fully multicoated glass ensures excellent long-term durability, making it an exceptional choice for any shooter.
