Federal Gold Medal ammunition, like most other ammunition,  was nearly impossible to find during the ammo shortage of 2020.

It eventually became available as the ammo industry started to slowly recover but for three times the “normal” price. The reason people still bought it at that price is trust in the brand and product.  Federal Premium is recognized as a solid and consistent performer.

Federal Premium accomplishes this by mixing its brass cases and primers with high-quality bullets.

The bullet chosen for this new Federal Gold Medal load is the 109 grain Berger Long-Range Hybrid Target.

The Federal Premium Gold Medal Berger 6mm Creedmoor uses a 109-grain, Berger Long Range Hybrid Target. Paired with Federal brass, special propellant, and match primers, plus Federal’s eye for consistency in manufacturing, the combination provides shooters with a very accurate and reliable round. It is now available in 6mm Creedmoor. The caliber boasts a very high ballistic coefficient and is known, especially in the competition world, for being extremely flat-shooting.

We recently covered the new Barrett Mk22 sniper rifle for the US Army. When they were selecting the calibers they wanted for that platform, the bullet manufacturer they chose was Berger; specifically the Berger Hybrid Target.

Although different from the 6mm Creedmoor load that we’re talking about here, the Berger Hybrid Target round has some key features that are standard across their Long Range Hybrid Target line.
