What really stands out is the custom-cut slide. Serrations in all the right places for manipulating the gun and doing press checks.
Additionally, the top of the slide is cut for a Trijicon RMR or Holosun 507C. The front sight is a bright red fiber optic with a blacked-out rear site, making it extremely quick and easy to locate.
On top of all that, the Patriot comes with a match-grade barrel made in-house by Faxon.
Lastly, the Patriot ships with a 15-round Glock OEM magazine.
Faxon Hellfire
Big brother to the Patriot. Picking up the Faxon Hellfire after handling the Patriot was quite a different experience. The Hellfire feels made for my hand.
The Hellfire utilizes the same frame as the Patriot, with the exception of a magwell.
The magwell alone makes a noticeable difference in my grip. Because of the magwell and the undercut trigger guard, I’m able to get the highest grip possible on the gun.
The magwell also aids in locking in a tighter grip.
The sights used on the Hellfire are suppressor-height sights from Night Fision. The front sight contains a Tritium insert that ALWAYS glows and the rear sight is blacked-out. This combination makes for fast target acquisition.
The custom slide cuts of the Hellfire pistol substantially differ from the Patriot. This is done to decrease the weight and increase the speed & reliability of the cyclic action.
The custom-cut slide coupled with the threaded barrel, Night Fision suppressor height sights, and extended 20-round magazine w/magwell reminds me of something out of a John Wick movie.
What Do These Two Pistols Have In Common?
Custom Faxon PF940C Frame
Faxon took the PF940C frame and gave it a 1911 grip angle and improved texture. In addition to that, they polished the front & rear slide rails.
They may be small differences, but they are noticeable when holding the gun in your hand.
To finish off the custom frame, they dropped in an Overwatch Precision Trigger.
The trigger shoe and safety tab are type 3 hard coat anodized to the MIL-A-8625 standard.
The small indexing hook ensures consistent trigger finger placement, and the broad, flat face of the trigger allows a uniquely self-correcting, straight rearward press.
Lastly, the NP3 plating on the trigger parts provides impermeable corrosion resistance and smooth, grit-free operation.
Developed to improve precision and accuracy with any style or caliber of weapon, the Trijicon RMR (Ruggedized Miniature Reflex) is designed to be as durable as the legendary ACOG.
The Trijicon RMR is tougher than any alternative and suitable for military, law enforcement, competition, and concealed carry.
The Holosun HS507C Multi-Reticle Circle Dot Open Reflex Sight is made to be mounted on handguns. Its Solar Failsafe system ensures the optic will continue to be powered even in the event of a dead battery.
The HS507C also features Law Enforcement Model (LEM) programming that provides "Lock Mode," and "Manual Mode." Lock Mode will keep accidental button presses from happening when the weapon is being drawn or holstered and Manual Mode gives the user full control over reticle brightness.
These hard-sided cases are TSA-approved, so you can safely and securely transport your pistol when flying.
We can actually use these cases unlike the plastic OEM cases we get from other firearms manufacturers.
Available Holsters for the FX 19 Pistols
Finding holsters for custom guns can be a challenging endeavor and expensive one. Being that the FX19 is not a Glock 19, your Glock 19 holsters will not work.
Since the frame of both pistols is the Polymer 80 PF940C frame, you’re going to need to find a holster manufacturer that makes holsters for that frame.
Taking these pistols to the range for the first time, I wanted to run a decent amount of ammo through both of them to get a solid feel for the reliability and the ergonomics (comfort).
I brought a mix of 9mm ammo to run through both FX 19 pistols. Everything from standard 115-grain FMJ to hollow points.
As expected, after several magazines I had zero malfunctions.
Being that these are brand new guns, I plan on getting more trigger time on both during each of my range sessions. I’ll follow up with more of a longer-term report once we get around the 1,000-round mark.
“The FX-19 line of pistols have successfully completed a 15,000 round durability test, as outlined in US ARMY TOP 3-2-045, along with the NATO standard drop test." – Faxon Firearms
Conclusion
Although the FX-19 pistols from Faxon come with a hefty price tag, they’re not that far off after you’ve upgraded a stock Glock 19.
If you add up the price of a Glock 19, new sights, a new trigger, and a match-grade barrel, you’re not far from an FX19 Patriot.
With the FX 19 pistols, there is no need to upgrade anything or send them out for custom work. That’s done for you out of the box.
These guns are absolutely gorgeous, but my favorite is the Hellfire Pistol. Stay tuned for more on these two beauties.
