Restocked at PSA! Our Top 5 Shotguns under $700

We’ve highlighted some of our favorite shotguns that have gone on sale on PSA within the past few days. However, We wanted to give more information on the shotguns that are more affordable. Today’s blog will focus on the 5 shotguns that we really love at the price point of less than $700. We’ve included the unique hand-held Mossberg 590 Shockwave, an over/under style from Dickinson, an AR-style from Typhoon Defense, a slug-style shotgun, and finally, a side-by-side fro mCZ-USA. Mossberg 590 Shockwave

Fortunately, we’ve done multiple blogs highlighting the extraordinary newer Mossberg 590 Shockwave. Shockwave Technologies produced the controversial (but awesome!) Raptor® bird’s head style pistol grip. This grip is the subject of a lot of controversies due to the National Firearms Act (NFA). The Shockwave is legal to own because the ATF decided that even with the shortened barrel, it falls under the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA). Since the shoulder stock was replaced by the middle ages pirate-looking powder gun, the Shockwave is not classified as a firearm. The Shockwave is an awesome Close-Quarters-Combat weapon because the barrel is only 14″ and can be used almost like a pistol. This increases the maneuverability of the soldier or policeman and offers more capability in a fight. This shotgun is chambered in 20 GA, so the recoil will be even less than the standard 12 GA model. The Raptor® bird’s head style pistol grip is designed to be worn with a wrist strap that ensures the recoil doesn’t force the shotgun out of your hand. It’s also able to reduce around 90% of the felt-recoil versus a shoulder-fired shotgun.

Dickinson Arms OA Hunter

The Dickinson Arms OA Hunter shotgun is one of the smoothest and clean looking shotguns on this list. Nostalgia pours out of this shotgun like a mid-day nap with a little whiskey to warm you up. The over/under action goes perfectly with the Turkish Walnut fixed stock and the Dickinson engraving on the receiver. The precision box lock receiver is forged from a high-quality aluminum alloy (hunter light) to limit the overall weight of the gun. If you’re looking for a beautiful shotgun with nostalgia and a price tag of less than $700, this gun is a perfect choice.

Typhoon Defense X-12

The Typhoon Defense X-12 semi-automatic shotgun is gas-operated, shoots 2 3/4″-3″ shells, and has a 5-shell magazine (I included the mag with the shotgun below). The Typhoon X-12 is the newest model from Typhoon. I love this shotgun because it feels like an AR, so it’s more comfortable to handle than a typical pump or over/under shotgun. The 18.5” barrel is chrome lined and constructed from 4140 Full Steel. The quality of metals and polymers used for this shotgun make this gun well worth the $600.00 asking price. It also comes with a Picatinny Rail system that I recommend using over the flip-up polymer sights. The sights are built well and are stable, but this shotgun is meant to take advantage of the structure of the AR.

CZ BobWhite G2 Shotgun

CZ is one of the best gunmakers in the world with an impressive arsenal of pistols, rifles, and shotguns. The BobWhite G2 is the newest model and includes a CNC receiver and modern internals that slim the action while increasing longevity and reliability. The unique feature of this shotgun is the double trigger to shoot both rounds in the side-by-side chamber.

I know it sounds crazy, but if you practice a few times, the side-by-side chamber is a lot of fun to shoot and hunt waterfowl with. The barrel is 28″ to provide you with enough accuracy at further distances. The full-set of chokes from cylinder to full make it easy to adjust on the fly if you need to tighten or loosen your choke based on inevitable environmental changes. With a Turkish Walnut finish on the stock and a black chrome finish on the barrel and receiver, this shotgun will look nice and shoot well for many years to come.
