Night Fision Optics Ready Tritium Sights | Designed To Be Run With Pistol Optics

Night Fision’s Optics Ready Stealth Series (ORS) tritium sights are engineered to offer a lower ⅓ co-witness, but with the new blade heights, a wider array of optics, and handgun combinations will see what is regarded as the best position for backup irons on a handgun with a slide-mounted optic.

As an alternative to repurposing Suppressor Height sights, ORS sights are designed from the dovetail up to work as backup sights for optics, yet obscuring less of the optic window while still allowing three-dot sight alignment if needed.

These new sights are designed in a way that they are just high enough to clear the optic. In the past, many shooters have used suppressor height sights to co-witness with an optic. The problem with that is that clutters the optic sight window and can become distracting to the shooter. With many pistol optic manufacturers making larger sight windows, why would we want to impede that with tall irons?

The new Optics Ready Stealth tritium sights are designed to sit right at the bottom of the pistol optic sight window, allowing you to take full advantage of the sight picture, but still have co-witnessed irons as a backup.

Do Tritium Sights Glow Forever?

Tritium is a radioactive isotope of hydrogen. Now, don’t get nervous when you read the word “radioactive”; tritium’s radiation is so weak that it can’t harm you. Tritium’s energy source is intrinsic, so it doesn’t need charging or prior exposure to light in order to work.

Which is better fiber optic or tritium sights? Tritium sights are better than any fiber optic or photoluminescent sight on the market for the fact that they don’t need to be charged or exposed to light to function. They are always on.

Consequently, if you keep your handgun in a nightstand drawer or safe for long periods of time, its tritium sights will still glow when you take it out. Tritium’s glow is imperceptible when there is adequate environmental light, so tritium sights look like conventional dots in the daytime. It’s almost like having an analog red dot sight that’s always on and doesn’t require any batteries.

How long do tritium night sights last? The important thing to keep in mind about tritium sights is that they will gradually lose their effectiveness over time. The half-life of tritium is about 12.5 years, so in a little over a decade tritium sights will glow only half as brightly as when they were first made. Even at half-life, they are still pretty bright, so if you run your tritium sights for the duration of their life, you’re looking at roughly 20 years of use.

The patented dome lens collimates the emitted glow from a vial packed with more tritium than most standard night sights on the market for a crisp green dot in dark conditions.
