When choosing a gun vise for my collection of hunting rifles, pistols, shotguns, and ARs, I prefer to go with less is more strategy. I’ve been fortunate enough to get a great deal on the Tipton Ultra Gun Vise, but it’s more expensive than $100.
What if I was to tell you that you can have a great gun vise for less than $100 and be able to accommodate all of your guns, regardless of size? This is exactly what the Tipton Best Gun Vise is able to accomplish, which is why I have it as the best all-around gun vise for your entire collection.
We’ve written a lot of articles on gun vises, specifically the top Tipton Gun Vises, but I wanted to take time to answer the most common questions related to the Tipton Best Gun Vise and explain why it’s the best for the money.
What is a Gun Vise For?
As simple of a question as this seems, the majority of people that complain about the Tipton Best Gun Vise are not using it as it’s intended. For example, if you want to change a gas block or build a custom AR-15 or AR-10, you’ll be much better off with a vise that’s screwed into your bench and made of steel.
A gun vise, like the Tipton Best Gun Vise, is best used for cleaning, maintenance, and minor gunsmithing. For example, if you’re wanting to run a cleaning rod through your barrel, change your buttstock, install a scope, laser, light attachment, or secure your rifle while you put in an aftermarket trigger, then a gun vise is perfect.
The Tipton Best Gun Vise is worthy of our attention because it’s the most versatile gun vise for cleaning, maintenance, scope mounting, and minor gunsmithing. The last time we wrote about the best gun Vise, it was listed at $140 online and rarely available during the height of the pandemic. Today, you can buy the Tipton Best Gun Vise for Under $100 on Amazon and Sportsman’s Warehouse.
The main part of the Best Gun Vise is called the central channel (the spot where you place your gun) and is made of high-grade aluminum for durability. From my personal experience, the central channel feels incredibly rigid, and hard. I have zero worries if it can handle any of my rifles or shotguns (even my heavy Stoeger M3500). This durability is just one thing that separates the Tipton Best Gun Vise from their competition.
The Best Gun Vise is able to accommodate any weapons system that I’ve had, including the Glock 26, Glock 43X, Springfield 1911 Loaded, and my Bergara 7mm Rem Mag. All you have to do is move the individual components to fit the size of the gun you want to clean or maintenance. I’ve been really impressed with how easy and fast that I’m able to switch from my Walther to my hunting rifles while cleaning.
How Does the Best Gun Vise Protect My Gun?
Anytime you start looking for a gun vise, it’s imperative that you find one that won’t mar the finish of your stock, barrel, trigger well, or mag well. The Tipton Best Gun Vise is built with 2 rear clamps that you can adjust to fit the smallest of stock and pistols, to the biggest rifles or shotguns you own.
It’s built with an off-set clamp that will even accommodate a cheek riser buttstock, such as many of the Magpul and aftermarket stocks out there. These clamps fasten very tightly and haven’t even scratched a stock after about 2 years of using the gun vise on my guns.
Finally, it’s built with an adjustable support grip with 2 heights that can be easily locked in for you to get the exact angle that you need to maneuver around your gun while you work or clean it.
The 2 rear clamps on the Best Gun Vise are completely adjustable t accommodate any size buttstock from a hunting rifle and shotgun to an AR and CCW. This offset clamp mechanism ensures that even if you have a cheek-riser or extended buttstock, the vise will securely fasten your gun without marring the finish or gouging holes in the barrel. The front support grip is also adjustable with 2 leg heights that can be configured along the T-track to ensure the stock always stays in place while you clean or do basic gunsmithing.
Can You Shoot From a Tipton Best Gun Vise?
Absolutely not! If you’re wanting to shoot from a secure platform, I’d use the Lead Sled 3 from Caldwell or theTack Driver Bag for a cheaper alternative. If you do decide to try and shoot a gun (especially a hunting rifle from the Best Gun Vise, you’ll break the gun vise and undoubtedly hurt yourself or anyone near you.
Can You Mount an AR Vise Block to the Tipton Best Gun Vise?
Yes, the Wheeler Delta Series Mag Well Vise Block is actually made for the Tipton Best Gun Vise. Once you install the Mag Well Vise Block, you can really work on your mag well, bolt carrier, and keep your hammer and firing protected with a unique built-in hammer stop. Just like with any tool, the small things like a hammer stop and 180-degree rotation of the vise block add up to bigger things in the end.
Can You Install A Riflescope with the Tipton Best Gun Vise?
Other than cleaning my guns after I shoot, installing a riflescope is what I use it for the most. I’ve installed all of my riflescopes, optics, lasers, and lights using the Tipton Best Gun Vise and I’ve been pleased with the gun vise every time.
Why Should I Buy the Best Gun Vise?
If you’re looking for the best gun vise to clean, maintain, and do some basic gunsmithing, this is the gun vise for you. Rarely do I ever see this vise for under $100 and highly recommend jumping on it before this deal ends.
The Tipton Best Gun Vise protects all of my pistols, shotguns, and rifles, including my custom wood Winchester Model 70 stock passed down from my Wife’s grandfather. Installing scopes is a breeze with the stability and low amount of configuration needed to secure the rifle to the gun vise.
