For me, Caldwell Shooting is one of the few companies that have really made me a better shooter and hunter. Caldwell Shooting sells all the range gear you need from hearing protection and shooting rests, to bipods, targets, and chronographs. They provide all the gear you need to become a more efficient, safe, and productive shooter or hunter. I will highlight a couple of the items that I personally use every year for deer and turkey hunting. We believe Caldwell Shooting will make the life of every marksman or hunter a lot easier and more efficient. This blog will serve as our buyer’s guide to help you get to know Caldwell and why you should give them a chance.

What is the Marksman Club?

The Marksman Club is similar to the Safariland membership with free shipping on any order, premium discounts, and exclusive deals on products. I highly recommend using this membership if you’re an avid shooter or hunter. The best part about the Marksman Club is that it’s free with no monthly payment to gain access to the early releases and exclusive deals. You only have to submit your email and the basic info you enter for all online businesses. You’ll receive a 10% discount on your entire first order with free shipping to cut costs at the end, instead of adding to it. I saved 10% for my first order and got an additional 20% last year on my XLA Bipod for a tremendous deal on a great tool that I use every hunting season. Finally, being a part of the Marksman’s Club will allow you to see weekly tips and drills to perform to become a better hunter/shooter.

Guide to Caldwell Ear Protection

One of the most underestimated and most important aspects of shooting is keeping your eyes and ears safe while shooting. As a veteran, I can tell you that my years of standing on a Flightline and using defective earplugs have destroyed my hearing to a point of no return. There are unfortunately hundreds of thousands of veterans that have severe hearing loss due to their time in warzones while wearing defective 3M earplugs. Caldwell Shooting will be able to save you the harm and irreversible damage to your hearing by providing technologically advanced and comfortable hearing protection.

Caldwell Shooting offers multiple types of hearing protection from the full-size earmuffs that cover your entire ear to compact blue-tooth earbuds. I can’t tell you how many pairs of earplugs I’ve gone through in my years because they don’t work or they fall out of my ear and don’t cancel enough noise. I recently bought the Electronic/ E-Max Power Cords to use for hunting and I love them. They’re very low-profile to reduce the interference with any other headgear or the cheek well of your rifle. They’re incredibly quick and easy and won’t scare away any animals as you put them in your ears. I prefer the corded earplugs over the cordless Bluetooth model for hunting, but on the range, I prefer the full cover over my ears for complete noise cancellation.

Guide to Caldwell Shooting Rests

If anyone asks me about Caldwell Shooting and what stands out about their company, I immediately think of the shooting rests. I personally believe every shooter should have a bench rest or vice to use as a tool to ensure you have the correct zero. Whether you’re hunting in the Rockies, Cascades, plains of Texas, or forests in Virginia, we often only get one great shot opportunity. Caldwell Shooting has shooting rests to accommodate every purpose you’d need or want for added stability and control. Whether you’re hunting or zeroing in your newest rifle with scope, there are products for everyone.

Caldwell Gun Rests

A bench rest is the most secure way to shoot a rifle without putting it in a gun vice. Most of the Caldwell bench rests are designed to eliminate 95% of felt recoil and drastically improve your consistency in accuracy. Bench Rests are not really meant to be used in any other application other than precision shooting and zeroing in your rifle and/or scope. I recently bought the Rock BR Competition Shooting Rest to help work on my accuracy and ensure my rifles and shotguns are zeroed in properly. It’s incredibly secure to shoot from on either a bench or on the ground if you’re laying prone for long-distance shots. My favorite part about the Rock Bench Rest is how easy it is to change elevation and windage to dial in your grouping in any condition.

Caldwell Bipods

A bipod is best used when you help with your stability and accuracy while hunting in the woods or rocky mountain terrain. I use a bipod on both of my hunting rifles, but I also have a pair of shooting sticks when I travel out west to hunt in the mountains. Many people ask me why I’d prefer the sticks over the bipod attachment and my answer is always based on if I’m trying to save weight or not. For example, If I’m going to be hiking up to 15 miles a day in the mountains and camping for a few days, I’ll bring the sticks to save weight on my pack. Regardless, I trust Caldwell Shooting to produce a great shooting platform to improve my accuracy and range.

Caldwell Bag Rests

One of the most economical and practical shooting rests that I’ve found is the bag rest that can be used at the range or in the field. The Caldwell Tack Driver® shooting rest is only $51.00 filled and only about $37.00 when shipped unfilled. The bag rests are very popular because they’re so versatile and portable for both hunters and competitive shooters in the field. The Tack Driver shooting bag provides a smooth enough surface to slide your rifle into place, but a firm enough surface to where it won’t budge during a shot. I was very hesitant to ever use one of these shooting bags, but I think they’re well worth the money and offer great versatility.

Guide to Caldwell Targets

Caldwell has so many shooting targets that it can be easy to feel overwhelmed with what to choose and what you don’t need. If you’re shooting a higher caliber rifle or handgun then make sure you get the higher grade metal or paper targets to get your money’s worth. When you’re choosing a metal target always look at the type of metal used and see if it’s treated for the weather. Caldwell uses the AR-550 steel that’s used in building construction because of the high tensile strength and durability.

Personally, I don’t buy many paper targets anymore because I can normally save money and make my own. However, Caldwell does have some paper targets like the Natural Series White Tail deer is a great tool to practice with the vitals and bone structure of the deer visible up close. I really like how the vitals disappear as you get further away so you can train yourself to aim for more precise points without seeing the name of the organs. This cardboard life-size cutout has really helped me with my archery practice and is well worth the $11.00.

Conclusion

Caldwell Shooting has helped me become a better hunter and marksman through their products and shooting tips with the Marksman Club membership. My bipod, hearing protection, and shooting sticks have all been used on multiple hunts and dragged through rough terrain and weather conditions. Every product I have from Caldwell has directly helped me take home multiple deer and turkey. I trust their products to hold up and give me a better chance on my hunts and to make my life easier when I shoot. Give Caldwell a chance with your business and I’m willing to bet you’ll be happy you did.
