Truck Organization | Guide To Decked Truck Bed Storage

Organization has been my Achilles’ heel for me since I was a young boy. I always kept a clean bedroom and generally had all my toys and games in one general area, but I was never able to stay organized for more than a day.   

I still struggle to organize every type of vehicle with all of my work and hunting gear. Even now for a turkey hunt, I feel like I should have more room and space than I do.

I’ve used storage bins, boxes, and homemade storage containers, but if I have to hit the breaks because someone in front of me couldn’t get off their phone and drive, everything is scattered, including my shotgun, turkey vest, hunting clothes, extra water, and undoubtedly a few loose shotgun shells from my vest or backpack.

How Much Does the Decked Drawer System Cost?

The overall cost is difficult to estimate, but I chose the most popular vehicle in the world as a starter. If you drive a Ford F-150 and buy the standard Decked drawer system, it will cost at least $1,349.99. Generally speaking, you’ll want a few extra cargo boxes or dividers, depending on your purpose and career. Each additional D-Box cargo box is $50.00 with the smaller CrossBox cargo boxes priced at $40.00. Overall, you could get an awesome setup for any career for around $2,000. There is no doubt in my mind whether or not DECKED is worth the cost or not. Being organized and prepared when you’re away from the comfort of home is worth way more than $2,000 to me. 

What I Use the Decked Drawers For?

I have a 2012 Ford F-150 that I use anytime I hunt, hike, or camp in the woods or mountains. At this point, the DECKED Drawer system is probably worth more than my truck, but it still works like a champ and when I’m done, I can just get it replaced onto the new truck.

My setup for hunting is different than camping and hiking, but generally, I use 2 D-Boxes in my compartment and I leave the other compartment empty. This setup allows me to keep open space for gear and guns in both compartments and still have all ammo, gear, clothes, electronics, and anything else I want to keep dry and secure while driving. 

Why Should I Buy the Decked Drawers?

The way the drawer system and the toolbox are set up, you can only have one or the other in the bed of your truck. The question to answer for everyone is whether or not you want more or less organizational equipment. I’m no professional on pick-up trucks, but unless I was a mechanic, electrician, or construction worker, I’d go with the DECKED Drawers. You can still use the bed of your truck whether you’re helping a friend move or wanting to carry a bike or kayak.  

For what I use the DECKED drawers for I only ask that they can handle heavy boxes, 500 lbs of mulch or gravel, and be 100% weatherproof. The DECKED Drawers can support 2,000 lbs of weight on each compartment drawer without bending or compromising the integrity of the platform. As often as I’m in the woods hunting in the Spring, fishing, and hiking in the summer, camping, and hunting in the fall, I run into every weather system imaginable.

I often keep my cameras, lens, IPAD, and other electronics in the drawers while I’m out in the elements. If I’m camping, I can’t drag everything into my tent or put everything in the cabin without rendering those spaces unusable. I carry food, water, camping cookware, and still have room for tents, sleeping bags, luggage, and all personal items. I’ve had rain, sleet, hail, and snow with absolutely no leaks in any of my compartments and cargo boxes.

The DECKED Drawers are perfect for hunting, especially when you need to camp and hunt with multiple people with you. The DECKED Drawers essentially double the amount of space you can use with the bed of your truck. The only thing I’m not too crazy about is the amount of space that’s left from the platform to the top of the side. of the truck. The only thing negative that it does is make it difficult to move large items like large dressers or other top-heavy items that could be compromised.
