The Glock 48 Slimline and MOS are the newest editions to the Glock arsenal and designed to be used as a CCW. The Glock 48 is very similar to the Glock 19 but thinner in the slide and a little shorter in length. The MOS model is even lighter and is specifically designed to accommodate the most common and popular red dot sights on the market. This blog will focus on what the Glock 48 is, how it compares to other popular models, and what are the best attachments to use for the Glock 48 MOS.
Glock 48
The Glock 48 is similar in size to the Glock 19 in overall length (7.36″) and has the same slide length. However, the overall width is noticeably less in the Glock 48 and even more apparent in the slide. However, the barrel in the Glock 48 is longer than the Glock 19 to ensure you’re able to maintain accuracy at similar ranges. By reducing the width of the slide and frame, the 48 was able to take some of the weight off the gun (5 oz. lighter than the 19). This might not seem like a lot of weight, but if you’re using it as a CCW, you’ll notice the difference after a full day carrying.
The biggest difference for me is the lightened trigger pull from a 6.3 lbs. trigger pull to a 5.4 lbs. trigger pull. Personally, this difference allows me to be much more accurate because I don’t pull shots with a 5 lbs. trigger pull. Shooters with bigger hands might not need to worry about this, but it feels so much more smooth than the trigger for the Glock 19. One downside of the Glock 48 is the fact that you can only carry 10 rounds versus the extended clip for the 19 (33 rounds).

Glock 48 MOS
The Glock 48 MOS is almost exactly the same as the Glock 48 Slim, except for the weight of the gun. The sights for the MOS model is different and much easier to adjust because it’s designed to accommodate a red dot sight. Just like any other MOS model from Glock, you’ll have to decide if you want a red dot sight or not. If you’d like an optic, it’s going to cost you an additional $150-200, not including the optic. Personally, shooting with a red dot sight is incredibly fun and allows me to acquire my target much faster than iron sights.

What’s The Difference Between The Glock 48 & Glock 43X?
The Glock 43X and Glock 48 have been compared with each other since they were released (for good reason). Both Glocks have the same height, width, slide width, trigger pull, and trigger distance. However, the Glock 43X is lighter and shorter in overall length and barrel. Generally, the Glock 43X is going to be at least $100 more than the 48. I prefer the longer barrel and better sightline of the Glock 48 over the 43X, but I understand why someone would want a shorter barrel and slide if using as a CCW.

Using this red dot sight with a Glock 48 MOS provides an opportunity for rapid target acquisition. The Trijicon RMR Type 2 fixed the problems with the original about the battery and stability. If you’re interested in learning more about the Trijicon RMR and the new RMRcc, read our blog, “New! Trijicon RMR CC Red Dot Sight | Complete Review”. With an unlimited eye relief and parallax-free sight picture, this red dot sight gives you everything you need to shoot with both eyes open and quickly identify your target. TALON Grips for Glock 43X & 48
TALON Grips are the most common grip enhancement used by Glock owners in the country (by a large margin). You can get them in a granulated grip, which feels like sandpaper and can be very aggressive. However, for smaller pistols, I prefer to use the rubber textured grip because they do better in CCW holsters and with your clothing. Not that the more aggressive granulated grip doesn’t work well, but I find that it frays my shirts sometimes and the draw from my holster isn’t as smooth. Both the Glock 43X and Glock 48 are used primarily as a CCW and work great with the rubber TALON grip.
Crimson Trace CMR-204 Rail Master Pro Universal Green Laser & Tactical Light, Green Laser Sight
Crimson Trace produces some of the most durable and reliable red dot sight, flashlight attachments, and laser attachments on the market. The Rail Master Pro was chosen to represent today because it’s a universal attachment that produces a bright light with an extraordinarily bright and stable laser for quick target acquisition. The CR2 Lithium battery will last up to 4 hours of continuous use and will give you up to 2 hours of continuous use for the flashlight. Unfortunately, the Glock 48 doesn’t have a rail system, so this can only be used in the Glock 48 MOS. I think it’s a little overkill to add a red dot sight and a laser sight, but I know many people like to do it.

ArmaLaser Designed for Compatible with Glock 42 43 43X 48 TR5G Super-Bright Green Laser Sight with Grip Activation
The ArmaLaser TR5G laser sight is a unique laser attachment that is much different than the bigger companies, such as Crimson Trace and Leupold. However, that doesn’t mean it’s not an awesome laser attachment that is worthy of your pistol. It’s a little bigger and heavier than most of the other options, but it distributes the weight evenly and doesn’t affect your accuracy at all.
The laser is turned on as you naturally grip the pistol and where your middle finger rests on the grip. All you have to do to turn off the laser is lift your hand from your natural shooting position and the laser will instantly shut off. I love this feature because there is no wasted time or second-guessing if you’ve hit the right or wrong button. For less than $150, this laser is a steal and I would highly recommend giving this company a chance with your patronage.

Concealment Express IWB KYDEX Holster (Black) – Inside Waistband – Adj. Cant & Posi-Click Retention
The Glock 48 and Glock 48 MOS are both great CCW pistols that can be easily carried in an IWB waistband holster. The Adjustable Cant(-5 to +20 Degrees) allows for more customization and it comes in either left or right-handed. The best feature for this pistol is the claw capability that prevents your holster and pistol from printing in your shirt. As we all know, you can get into legal trouble if you’re CC holster slides out of your shirt and shows to the wrong person.
This holster features an undercut trigger guard to make the draw easier and has a shield of Kydex that protects your rear sight. With the addition of the “Posi-Click” retention feature, you’re always ensured that you’ll hear an audible click every time your holster is secured. This prevents any accidental drops or embarrassing moments of having your pistol fall out without knowing.
Scorpus® MX With Level 2 Retention System
The Scorpus MX features a 360 swivel to allow the shooter to adjust the cant anyway they want with no restrictions. Fab-Defense features a new adapter that can be transitioned from belts to vests called the “MolleX™ adapter”. With 3 separate attachment options with the holster, you can customize your loadout to fit our mission needs and personal preference better than most other products on the market.
The Scorpus® Level 2 Retention System gives you the best possible retention with a pressure-activated locking lever and a spring-based retention device that has to activated simultaneously to release your weapon. This feature ensures that if you fall or if someone reaches for your gun, your pistol will be secure until you’re ready for it to be released.
The Scorpus MX is available for the following handguns:
- Glock 17, 19, 22, 23, 26, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 41
- Glock 20, 21, 29, 30, 40
- Glock 43, 43X & 48 (versions without a railed frame)
