Top 4 Optics Under $400 | In Stock

The world’s manufacturing facilities and 3rd-party sellers are fully open at this point, especially since the CDC is starting to relax the mask requirements and social distancing guidelines. This means good news for consumers and writers, alike, because there are thousands of products back on the shelf that we’re all looking for. For this blog, I want to focus on some of the optics that are listed under $400 and in stock. Whether you’re looking for a reflex sight for your CCW or AR-15, I’ll include optics for different weapon systems and capabilities.

1. Leupold Mark AR 3-9x P5 Rifle Scope

If you haven’t heard of Leupold you must be new to weapons and tactical gear, but it’s okay because it’s never too late to learn. For starters, I don’t think there are better optics companies than Leupold and Vortex. Companies such as B.E. Meyers are great, but they don’t have the number of products that Leupold or Vortex has and therefore can’t offer the same versatility. From my understanding, the Leupold Mark AR P5 rifle scope has been recently discontinued, but it doesn’t mean the product is bad or defunct. It only means that Leupold has replaced it with a new product (VX 3HD Series).

For starters, I’ve never used a Leupold scope that didn’t blow me away with its performance and reliability. The Mark AR P5 scope uses the Firedot-G TMW reticle that provides a brightened green dot that makes it incredibly easy to acquire your target. I love the idea that I can almost instantly acquire my target with my AR-15 and feel confident that my bullets will go exactly where they need to go. I also really like the second focal plane because the reticle is placed behind the magnification lens, making it closer to your eye for an easier view. The Second Focal Plane means that the reticle will stay the same at any power setting and magnification level. For an AR scope, I prefer to use a second focal plane, but that could just be me, make your decision based on what you prefer.

2. Sig Sauer RomeoZero Micro Reflex Sight

I’ve written a lot about Sig in the past, especially the Romeo models, but the RomeoZero is different with its patented SpectraCoat HD Polymer lens system that is designed to provide 10x the impact resistance over their competition. This allows you to use this Red Dot Sight (RDS) to perform tactical reloads on walls, with your hands, or even shooting over cover and concealment. The polymer frame is designed to be extremely lightweight and fit almost any striker-fired CCW in a polymer frame, such as any Glock, and works especially well with the Sig P365 and P365XL.

For $200, this optic provides unparalleled reliability, performance, and durability. The amount of advanced technology in this optic is incredible with the Motion Activated illumination System (MOTAC) and 8 different brightness settings. The red dot is an actual LED emitter that provides a crisper and cleaner dot that Sig claims to be 8x more efficient than other RDS optics. With 10-year battery life and compact housing unit, this optic is a no-brainer for anyone looking to add an optic to their CCW, especially a Sig polymer pistol.

3. Vortex Venom 3 MOA Red Dot Sight

To be honest, this is my favorite optic on the list because of the simplicity and performance of the RDS. You can install this sight on almost any gun you have, except a bolt-action rifle and machine gun. Vortex Optics doesn’t have to over-advertise like many other companies because they let their products speak for themselves. Every avid hunter currently owns or has previously owned a Vortex optic. The Venom provides a 3 MOA RDS that uses a multi-coated lens to prevent glare and allow you to see in the actual color of your surroundings and target.

Vortex Optics offers one of the best warranties on the market by covering all costs associated with damage or defective products, even if they have to send you a brand new optic. Other than Leupold, there are not many companies willing to go out on a limb for their customers in the way Vortex does. They provide an unlimited lifetime warranty on their optics and don’t require you to save a card to redeem your warranty. The fact that the Venom is 100% waterproof and fog proof is an added bonus that provides even better peace of mind.

4. Holosun HS515 Micro Red Dot Sight

The Holosun Micro RDS is an incredible RDS for your AR or shotgun that provides more than enough technology and features to keep you from spending over $1,000 on a more advanced optic. One of the coolest features of this optic is the Multiple Reticle System (MRS) that allows you to transfer between different reticles for closer or further ranges on your target. it offers a 2 MOA reticle for precision shooting and offers a 65 MOA for up close and personal shots with a push of a button. the fact that you don’t need to zero in this optic makes it even more appealing.

As with every Holosun product, they offer an RDS with the capability to be charged by the sun, making the battery last longer than any other optic on this list (50,000 hours of life with 1 battery). Even in low light situations, the Holosun runs on ambient light and prevents your RDS from ever turning off when you need it. It features a parallax-free sight picture and unlimited eye relief. The Shake Awake technology turns the RDS on with any slight movement of the weapon for conservation of the battery and is 100% waterproof.
