Palmetto State Armory| PSAK-47 Edition 2020

Palmetto State Armory has been a staple in selling firearms to Americans over a decade now. As they continue to grow they are developing some of the most affordable and durable Ak-47 rifles on the market today. Since acquiring the capability of producing their own guns, Palmetto State is ready to upend the market with AK-47’s half the price of the more established companies. We’re going to keep our focus on the PSAK-47 GF3 Forged “MOEkov” FDE, the PSAK-47 GF3 AK-M4 MOE, PSAK-47 Liberty, and the PSA Gen2 KS-47 MOE EPT rifles. Each of these AK-47 rifles is under $800. They are built here in America, are Veteran-Owned, all their rifles are given a lifetime warranty, and offer discounts on all products for veterans and police officers.

PSAK-47 GF3 “MOEkov” FDE Rifle

As our gun laws change and restrict the importation of specific firearms, such as the AK-47, it’s great to see an American company pick up the slack. The front trunnion, bolt, and carrier group are all hammer-forged. This gives the AK-47 increased longevity by ensuring the metal is uniform and without any defects. The barrel is nitride finished to offer a smooth and durable barrel that improves accuracy and longevity. Palmetto State tested this rifle with over 10,000 rounds to see if it could compete with the famous longevity and durability of the Russian and Bulgarian models. As you’ll see in the video below the GF3 is going to be a durable, reliable, and affordable AK-47 to add to your collection. The GF3 MOEkov is built to be easily customized with the muzzle brake, and all the great Magpul features, such as the handguard, stock, grip, and mags. I highly recommend this rifle for anyone in the market of an AK-47 because it’s American made, just as durable as any other AK you’ll find, and is more accurate than most European models.

Why Should I Buy The PSAK-47 GF3 Forged MOEkov?

This rifle is a steal when you consider that the entire rifle from stock, to forend, is built with Magpul accessories. These features would cost around $200 to order independently and you’ll still have to attach them all. With the PSAK-47 GF3, all the Magpul is attached and counted in the initial price of the gun. These features will allow you to easily attach a scope or optic, laser, light, and even a Bayonet with the traditional attachment point under the barrel. For about $800, you’ll be able to own an American AK-47 and get the lifetime warranty that comes with all PSA guns and accessories. Another thing to consider is the discount if you’re a veteran or police officer, which will take the price down closer to $750.

PSA Gen2 KS-47 MOE EPT Rifle

The PSA Gen 2 KS-47 EPT rifle is a combination of an AK and AR build with AR modular configuration, barreled upper receiver, AR-style spring and buffer tube, and the control group is all housed in the lower receiver, much like an AR. As most AK-style rifles have the barrel pressed into the trunnion, this model allows you to change out the barrel in the same way you would an AR-15. The KS-47 also accepts drum magazines for an extended capacity with the addition of steel reinforcements in the magazine well. Another cool feature is the over-insertion tabs that prevent the bolt from catching on the magazine. This can happen with an AK because the power and force of operation with a 7.62 bullet can drag and destroy you mag within a few uses. The KS-47 also features an extended firing pin to accommodate AK-47 mags and to ensure reliable striking of the primer for longer bullets.

Why Should I Buy The PSA Gen2 KS-47 MOE EPT Rifle?

The versatility with this rifle is almost unmatched in any style gun, but especially for the AK-47. You’ll have to check which laws your specific state has about AK-47’s and magazine capacity, but this rifle will handle over a dozen different magazine types, including the Romanian, Chinese, and Korean Drum Magazine. I love the extended magazine release below the trigger guard because it allows you to reload rapidly and fix any malfunctions or misdeeds with ease. The versatility of this rifle makes the $949 price tag worth it because it shoots like the AR-15, but with the power of a 7.62 bullet.

PSAK-47 GB2 Liberty MOEkov Rifle

The GB2 Liberty is the most compact of the PSA AK-47 models and is built around the new and improved barrel block and bolt for longevity. The barrel is 4150-grade hardened steel and finished in nitride for improved accuracy and wear-resistant. The receiver is made from 1mm steel and houses the double hook trigger that breaks at about 3.5 lbs. The rail mount on this rifle is located on the side, which is a little abnormal than what we’re used to with AR-15’s and standard American rifles. The GB2 Liberty does incredibly well against the normal wear and tear of operation. The best part about this rifle is the fact that you can get this AK for less than $600 in some places and accessorize your rifle for well below the average price of $1,000.

  • Melonite 4150 steel treated barrel
  • Stamped steel receiver
  • Billet Steel Barrel Block (Front Trunion)
  • Billet Bolt

Why Should I Buy The PSAK-47 GB2 Liberty?

The GB2 Liberty is a great starter AK for anyone interested in owning a sporting rifle for target practice and home-defense. As mentioned above, you can find this rifle for less than $600 and trick it out for a few hundred more. The Liberty model is smaller and more compact than the other models, but is just as durable and reliable as any other American-made AK-47. With a Chrome Moly steel barrel and mid-length gas system, you won’t have to worry about having gas pushed up in your face as you shoot. Similar to all the other PSA models, this is built with all the Magpul features you can ask for a clean look and practical use.

Federal 7.62X51MM 149GR FMJ

Federal is one of the most trusted ammunition companies in the world, along with Remington and Winchester. I chose this bullet because it’s perfect for heavy usage at the range with its non-corrosive boxer primer, the reloadable brass casing, and the clean and consistent burning powder in each bullet. At 149 gr, this bullet will allow you to shoot accurately up to 500 meters with a force of 1879 ft per second. Federal is a little more expensive, but it burns clean, never misfeeds, and can be reloaded for sustainable usage. As everyone who fires Federal ammo will tell you, you can’t go wrong with the quality they offer.

MAGTECH 7.62 NATO (.308) 147 GR FMJ

Magtech is a company with an outstanding reputation in supplying shooters with reliable and affordable ammo to practice and hone their skills. I chose this bullet because it’s relatively cheap, ($12) for 20 Full-Metal-Jacketed (FMJ) ammo. This ammo is 147 gr, which is a little heavy but feeds consistently and reliably in the PSA AK-47. Not only will you save about $10/box by buying the Magtech ammo, but you’ll also be able to practice with your rifle without worrying about how much money you’re spending on ammo. Each bullet is cased in brass for added durability and affordability. No matter how you look at it, Magtech is great for target practice and training at the range.

American Eagle 7.62X39mm FMJ Soviet Ammo

Most PSA AK-47 rifles are chambered for the 7.62X 39mm Soviet bullet, which is shorter, lighter, and less powerful than the 7.62 NATO bullet. The American Eagle bullet is 124 grain and is built around an FMJ cartridge. I chose this bullet because this is what will work best with all the rifles above and give you the best accuracy and reliability. The average range for the American Eagle is 100 yards before the bullet will start to drop. At 200 yards, this bullet will drop an average of 6.5″ and almost 2 feet at 300 yards. As you can tell, this rifle is not meant for long-range shooting and should be kept around 200 yards for the best chance at hitting your target.
